How to Apply to the SKD ECE Bilingual Institute of Training (BIT)
Your pathway to a rewarding career as an Early Childhood Assistant starts here!

Step 1: Check Your Eligibility

Before applying, make sure you meet the following requirements:

  • 18 years of age or older
  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred, not mandatory)
  • Interest in working with children in a licensed or home child care setting
  • Ability to commit to full-time or part-time training

Bonus: Bilingual (French/English) candidates and those with child care experience are especially encouraged to apply!

Step 2: Complete the Online Application Form

Visit www.skdecebit.ca and navigate to the “Apply Now” section.

You’ll be asked to provide:

  • Your contact information
  • Education and employment background
  • Preferred training format (online/in-person, full-/part-time)
  • A short personal statement about why you want to become an ECA

Step 3: Submit Supporting Documents

After completing the application, submit:

  • Copy of government-issued ID
  • Proof of education (if applicable)
  • Resume (optional but recommended)
  • Any relevant certifications (First Aid/CPR, etc.)

Step 4: Interview or Info Session (if required)

Some applicants may be invited to a short interview or virtual info session to learn more about the program and ask questions.

Step 5: Get Accepted and Enroll

If accepted, you’ll receive:

  • A formal acceptance letter
  • Orientation details
  • Next steps for enrollment, including tuition/payment options and program start date
